INDUSTRIAL SCAFFOLDING PROJECT
In late 2024, AAA Scaffolding UK was commissioned to deliver a complex industrial scaffolding solution for a large operational facility in Peterhead. The project required safe and efficient access for maintenance, inspection, and upgrade works across multiple elevations in a high-risk industrial environment.
CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS
We overcame several key challenges:

-
Operational Facility Constraints & High-Risk Environment: With the site remaining live, we coordinated with the shutdown schedule, created exclusion zones, and held interface meetings to safely segregate scaffolding from live operations.
-
Large Structural Spans & Elevated Work Zones: To access roofs, gantries, pipe racks, and structural steel, we installed multi-bay, heavy-duty scaffolds with extra bracing, high-capacity boards, and secure tie-ins. Working decks were engineered to support multiple trades and heavy loads.
-
Weather Exposure & Harsh Environment: Coastal conditions posed high winds, salt spray, and frequent weather exposure. We utilised corrosion-resistant scaffold components, wind-rated boards, protective netting, and conducted daily inspections to ensure safety.
-
Multi-Trade Simultaneous Access & Tight Scheduling: Trades required access at different elevations. We implemented a phased scaffold programme with demarcated zones and stair tower access, coordinating with the contractor to minimise re-erections and maximise scaffold reuse, saving time and costs.

PROJECT LOCATION AND CLIENT
The site was an industrial complex near the harbour and energy infrastructure in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. We worked closely with the main contractor appointed by the facility owner to ensure scaffolding met the operational and safety requirements for ongoing structural maintenance and upgrades.
SCOPE OF WORK
At AAA Scaffolding UK, we designed and erected heavy-duty industrial scaffolding, including perimeter wrap, suspended sections, working platforms, and roof-level tie-ins. Our team installed weather-protection canopies and debris nets to safeguard site operations and maintain the integrity of the work. Specialist scaffold towers and stairway access were provided for multiple trades, including pipe-work inspection crews, insulation fitters, and corrosion repair teams. Weekly inspections and certification were completed in line with UK safety regulations and NASC TG20 guidance. Dismantling was carefully phased to align with scheduled maintenance windows, minimising operational downtime.

TIMESCALE AND PROJECT VALUE
The project commenced in November 2024 and continued until June 2025, spanning approximately 8–9 months. The scaffolding works, including erection, inspection, maintenance, and dismantling, were valued at around £150–200k for industrial access solutions.
OUTCOMES & BENEFITS
Our scaffolding provided safe, reliable access across all elevations, allowing the maintenance and upgrade programme to proceed on time and within budget. No scaffold-related delays or accidents occurred. The dismantling was completed ahead of the operational recommencement, ensuring minimal downtime. By working with us, the client benefited from our local knowledge, rapid mobilisation to Peterhead, and full compliance with industrial access standards.
"We required scaffolding at extremely short notice for fitting roofline products on a gable end for our home improvement business. John was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to help us out. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again and can't recommend them enough. Excellent to deal with."
