HEAVY-DUTY INDUSTRIAL SCAFFOLDING
In mid-2023, AAA Scaffolding UK was commissioned to provide industrial-grade scaffolding for the Stonehaven and Peterhead harbour reinforcement & maintenance projects. Our team designed and erected robust scaffolds capable of supporting multi-trade teams working on sea walls, jetties, and heavy civil maintenance, ensuring safe, reliable access in live marine environments.
SCOPE OF WORK
We delivered a comprehensive scaffolding solution, including:

24/7 safety inspections due to tidal shifts and nearby public access.

Phased dismantling and site clearance were coordinated with the contractor’s marine schedule.
CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS
Tidal fluctuations and marine exposure: Daily sea spray, shifting tides, and strong winds demanded durable scaffolds. We used galvanised fittings, double couplers, and marine-rated bases, performing daily integrity checks and tie reinforcements before high tides. Limited site access & public proximity: With the harbour open to traffic and pedestrians, we coordinated phased access closures with Aberdeenshire Council and Harbour Authority, installing clear signage and barriers for safety. Multi-trade coordination: Concrete teams, painters, and electrical installers shared access to the scaffold. We created modular access zones with segregated decks and colour-coded tagging for efficient workflow management.
PROJECT LOCATION AND CLIENT DETAILS
The project was situated at Stonehaven Harbour, Aberdeenshire. We worked closely with the civil engineering contractor responsible for marine wall reinforcement, providing tailored access solutions that aligned with their schedule and safety requirements.
OUTCOME AND RESULTS
We provided safe, uninterrupted access for the entire marine repair programme, completed the project on time and within budget, and maintained zero public safety incidents despite the live harbour environment.
